My First Ever Elevator RideEver since I was a little child, I've always LOVED elevators all throughout my life! It all started when I rode my very first elevator at the New World Shopping Mall in Beijing, China, on the interior elevators when I was 2 years old. When my aunt took me over to the glass elevator, I was really excited to see the moving views from the outside glass window. Then I asked my mom and my aunt that I want to ride it again. So we took couple of rides and that is where I've started becoming very fascinated into elevators!

My Reward
It all started when I was in elementary school (and even pre-school as well) that if my mom finds out I behaved well in class, she would take me out random locations nearby just to ride the elevator as my reward before we go to bed. We went to places like Mervyn's (now Dillard's Men) at First Colony Mall and the Marriott Hotel at Sugar Land Town Square for example where my mom follows me inside to ride the elevator. There has been one time where one of my pre-school teachers who knew a friend that originally worked at the Williams Tower (50 floors high). After I finished pre-school, my mom took me to the Williams Tower where my teacher and her friend gave us an amazing tour of their elevators as well as looking out the view on the top floor! This also counts as my very first high-speed elevator I've ridden throughout my life.
My Fear of Elevators & How It Overcame
There was a time when I was terrified of elevators, practically when riding without an adult 'cause usually I have my parents inside the elevator with me. It took place at 6901 Corporate Plaza where my mom used to work, and I could never stop my obsession with elevators since I became interested. So what I did was that I was playing around with the elevator doors opening and closing (without riding) and my mom told me, "Don't get in the elevator by yourself, or you're gonna get 'stuck'!" So that scared me a little and how I would never take a step inside, so all I did was look at the inside of the elevator and send it up and down without riding. Then months later, my dad came to visit my mom at the same building where she worked at. And after running to my mom's office, she informed me that you can go ride the elevator if I wanted to, then I quickly replied to her saying that I would get "stuck" (like she said to me before), then she replied to me saying "You will NOT get stuck!" So then as I walked out into the lobby, my dad associated me to take a try on riding the elevator by myself by first taking the stairs up to 2 and down the elevator. So then as I realized what my dad told me, I did it. After walking up the stairs to the second floor, I got in the elevator and took it down to the first floor. Then when the doors opened at 1, my dad stood towards the left at me, and guess what?? I did NOT get stuck!! :D So then I tried it the second time going up the stairs and down the elevator without getting stuck. I realized I wouldn't get stuck inside the elevator cab alone. Then as we drove to Mervyn's (now Dillard's Men) at First Colony Mall for shopping, I asked my mom if I could ride on the elevator and she told me yes but to come right back down. So I got in the elevator, rode up to the second floor and back down to 1, and finally found my parents without getting stuck in the elevator. That said, I was NO LONGER afraid of getting on elevators by myself anymore!
